I bought these three wooden sewing baskets at rummage sales and thrift shops. 

The wood one I painted grey and upholstered it in grey & yellow.

The blue one I just removed the top fabric & ribbon and re-upholstered it.

The wooden fold out chest, I painted black, with silver accents (screws/wood slats, & ball feet.)  I thought about this a long time before completely dissassembling it (because of all the tiny pieces and painting all the screws). But the end result was really worth the effort.
