Yes, you can revive old broken rattan and cane chairs!!!!
This wood chair cost $5 at Habitat for Humanity, Anaheim. It was brown wood with a ripped cane back. I stripped off the caning, sanded off the paint, and threw away the upholstery & foam. I purchased new foam, cotton, and added webbing and foam on the back. I painted the wood frame a light grey. The seat has a layer of green foam, cotton, and muslin before the new teal upholstery fabric. The seat back is upholstered in a tropical print. I attached gimp around the edges to cover the staples.
