Dragonfly Bench
Step-by-step Re-upholstery of this wooden bench. I bought it at a yard sale in October 2015 for $5. I pulled off the trim, tore off the fabric and foam. The four pieces of wood on the seat and back were stapled on, and all of the staples were very rusty. I sanded and primed the brown wood and gave it two coats of gesso, then painted it blue with two coats of old wall paint, and the ball finials are now gold. The upholstery was a faded, worn floral tapestry. It was cute and pathetic at the same time. I stretched jute webbing across the openings instead of re-using the wood slats. There is dragonfly fabric on the back and bottom of the seat and back. Inside is batting and 1" foam for the back and 2" foam for the seat. The seat cushion is not attached. I hot glued jute and decorative gimp over the raw edges of the back fabric.
