Tim Peter's furniture making class at Orange Coast College this spring taught how to make a bar stool. We learned how to use all kinds of hand tools and power tools. I hand painted the seat in a garden scene, and adding tiles and a butterfly along one of the front rails.
Above is a nearly-completed view of the seat.
My stool was made of low-cost poplar. Some of my classmates used very expensive mahogany, cherry and padauk, thereby never even considering paint.
